Joyce Savre combines written language with visual art in paintings and drawings. In this she is not alone, but the exuberance, enthusiasm, and subtlety with which she does so is unique. Her idiom is a kind of visual Esperanto, at once obscurely gnomic and universally obvious. Savre's works read like ancient texts that have not yet been written.
