Gale Kiniry is a San Francisco Bay Area artist who works in collage, assemblage and mixed media. Her collages incorporate antique book pages, unique papers, postal stamps, penned letters and more. Texture is added in hopes of creating work with a sense of warmth, beauty and renewal. For her, creating can be both playful and meditative.
Gale enjoys creating something new out of old, time worn papers and objects that she delights in collecting. She especially enjoys finding the heartwarming writings, sentiments and signatures of love and caring generated during the days when time was taken to express feelings on paper. These things can so easily lost forever. So it has become important to her to showcase them in her work and allow them to be seen, treasured and not lost.
We’ve all come across these treasured aged pieces of paper, letters, poems, books or documents that touch the heart and soul. I hope her work connects with these feelings and celebrates the true beauty of age. Preserving and show casing these handwritten marks and sentiments affords these materials to have one last hurrah.
